Guide for sports clubs

Get more from your club sponsors online.

Eight practical ways your club website can show sponsors off, sell more sponsorship and make renewals easier. For clubs of every sport, from junior and grassroots up.

1. Put sponsors on every page

Most club sites keep sponsors on one logo page that hardly anyone visits. Supporters land on the home page, the fixtures and the latest result, so that's where sponsors need to be. A sponsor section on every page means every visit counts for them.

2. Give your main sponsor a spotlight

Your shirt or principal sponsor is paying the most, so give them the biggest slot: their logo up top, a short line about the business and how to contact them. Partners can sit below in a tidy row.

3. Make every logo do something

A logo that goes nowhere is a missed chance. Link each sponsor to their website, or give them a tap-to-call number, so a supporter on a phone can get in touch in one tap.

4. Sell more than the shirt

Match sponsors, player sponsors and partner banners give smaller local businesses a way in. Show them where supporters actually look: on the match page, on the player's card and on every page of the site.

5. Show what's still available

An empty space can sell itself. A panel that says "Your sponsor could go here", with a QR code a business can scan to ask, turns spare space into an advert for sponsorship. You can use the same QR code on posters and programmes at the ground.

6. Make it easy to ask

Put a "Become a sponsor" button on every page that sends the enquiry straight to whoever looks after sponsorship at the club. The fewer steps, the more enquiries you get.

7. Keep the site fresh

Sponsors only get seen if supporters keep coming back. Post fixtures, results, team news and match reports as they happen. If nobody at the club has time, that's a job you can hand over.

8. Show sponsors what they got at renewal time

Before you ask a sponsor to renew, show them where they appeared all season: on every page, on match pages and in club news. A few screenshots on a phone make a stronger case than a list of promises.

How Sport Site does it. Every Sport Site club website has a sponsor section on every page, a principal sponsor slot, match and player sponsor slots and a "Become a sponsor" button.
